[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So my son, both sons actually are taking geometry right now.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: My youngest son is a ninth grader.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He's an advanced like honors math taking geometries in ninth grade.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I took geometry as a tenth grader at the same school and that would be about 1986 that that happened.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So clearly, I mean curricula change over time and clearly this one did.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So I took it in 10th grade.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly, I took it in the exact same classroom that Sean, my older son is taking

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: in now, which is a trip to go into that classroom and remember where I sat in the

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: classroom and all that stuff.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyhow, so I did pretty well in geometry.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember very much of it.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I mean, I, it's not the kind of thing that's at the front of my mind, let's just say.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So I am relearning geometry as we go and unfortunately Sean, my older son needs more help

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: than Jacob does.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And to be honest, Jacob, it would never be okay for Jacob to help.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: If you've, I've seen some brothers that get along.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: My two boys don't really get along because there's zero chance that it would be okay with Sean for

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Jacob to give him help.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm trying to give him help.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not easy.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be an ugly year for geometry, but I'm doing my best.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So if any of you have any hints for me on geometry, I sure appreciate it

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's kind of a mess.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyhow, so I am a geometry tutor right now.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I am, I'm still kind of like reeling a little bit from my vet or society experience last week

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: in a good way.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Armin knows everything there is to know about digital dentistry and he's kind of on

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: the cutting edge of it all the time.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And what's really funny is I have digital stuff in my office.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I've had a scanner since 2016.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I've had a good scanner since 2018 or 2019, 2018 probably.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I started using the, I think it was 2019, I think it was February 2019.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And I started using the a minute I 500 then, which was pretty good scanner.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I moved to an I 700 a couple of years after that I've had the I 700 basically

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: since it was out or soon after it was out.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And what I've told you about it before my workflow, particularly for singles and doubles

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know, bridges, my workflow is very simple.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Frankly, so simple that I didn't have to do anything special with it.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it was just, I would just go in, I would, you know, set the case up the way

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I knew how to set it up and just do the least little thing.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was easy and you press go and it was going.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm watching Armin all last weekend and realizing that the computer and the scanner

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and all that, there's a lot more stuff you can do with this.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone kind of knows that about a lot of software.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the stuff like your, for instance, your practice management software can do

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: all kinds of stuff that most offices don't really use.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And I would, including me, a lot of times dentists are looking for a specific functionality.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And it just so happens that the package that we buy has a ton more functionality

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: than what we end up really using or caring about.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So my concept is that there's a lot of stuff like this in our lives,

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that if we actually just took a little time to use more of that functionality,

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: we would find it helpful and useful and great.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And since we've already bought it, it's already in our, in our process.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like getting free stuff, kind of.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm here to talk to you about free stuff.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I have several examples in my own life that have just come up just lately

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that I think are kind of fun.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And the last couple will be very dental oriented.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So the first one is super dumb, super easy and I do love it.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I have been a member of audible.com forever.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I have, depending on how old you guys are and how electronically oriented you are,

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I was using, I'm going to look it up on the, I'm going to look it up right now.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's the Rio 500 MP3 player.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And there was actually one even, yeah, the 500,

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: you can get one on eBay for 20 bucks now if you want the Rio 500.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the first MP3 player I ever had.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And it was, I want to say it was 500 megabytes.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the 500.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's really, that's pretty fancy.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I had, I think after that, I upgraded to the Rio 800, I think.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's see if that's right.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to see if that's, if that's the, let me get a picture of it.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me see it.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the one, the Rio 800, the upgraded version of the Rio 500.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I have been listening to books on tape since they were actually on tape.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I got a, I got a subscription to this new, brand new,

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: funky thing called audible.com in the late 1990s, probably mid to late 1990s.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I had an MP3 player until after I finished dental school, but soon after I did.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So what's really funny about this is that you would have to like download the books

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: onto your computer and then you'd hook with a cable up with this MP3 player.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you would like drag it over and it was, it was basically a little hard drive

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: with a teeny tiny little monitor on it, a little, little display on it.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So you could choose your book and hit.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So, and then you'd have to put it in, in most of the cars I had,

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I probably had a cassette tape adapter that I would plug it,

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but I've been listening to books on tape forever.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I was, I was one of the very first members of audible.com.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And I still have, I've been a member ever since.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And what I tend to do is I drop a couple hundred bucks every year.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's, it's like the, it's the, I don't know, the top tier membership thing.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And you get like 24 credits, 24 books.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You're basically prepaying for 24 books.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't matter the length of the book for the most part.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Most books are a single credit.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So 24 books ends up being two books a month if you're depending on,

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, depending on how often you're using it.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Now since that time I was using, when I was using just audible,

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember too, I have to say, I was at a tier when I first bought in,

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I was at a tier where it was unlimited.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You can just download as much as you want it and become partier.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_01]: They ended up having to send me a letter saying,

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: look, we're just not doing this anymore.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: We can't afford to be giving stuff away this way.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was that early in another deal.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So, and then the podcast came along.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And I actually would listen to podcasts on,

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was that Rio 800.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I could do it then.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was not a, I got an, that's not true.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I got an iPod relatively early on.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I've had multiple iPods.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course iPods worked very specifically with Macs.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I love Mac computers.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have an iPhone, but I love Mac computers.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And so the iPod, you know, so I moved into that.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I started using the iPod not only with audio books and audible,

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: but podcasts.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So this would have had to have been about 2006 or so that I kind of got into that because

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm certain that that's the first time I started.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So I've been listening to audio content forever.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of it was this audible.com.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a ridiculously large audible.com library just because I've been doing it.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been listening to this stuff for so long.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So one of the free things, it's not free.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of this stuff just you understand is not actually free.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just that I'm using it better.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm taking advantage of all the things that I've already paid for.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, when I want to say that my books turn over in like November,

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think I still have like nine books to go.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think they typically send me some kind of a notification.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm about to lose my nine books because it's going to turn over and start over at 24.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So I have you kind of it's kind of fun.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like going to the bookstore and it's for free because you got to use these

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_01]: things up before your membership turns over.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But I will say that buying in bulk is definitely a better deal than buying individual titles.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's been worth it.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just that there's times when I have to go, okay, I have to make some picks now

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_01]: because I'm going to run out of credit.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like getting free stuff.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That's my first free stuff, the audible.com free stuff,

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_01]: which of course I've paid for the credit.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I just haven't used them because I have to say I've listened to a lot of podcasts.

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't find myself listening to audiobooks that often.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So I end up at the end of my year having leftovers.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I just have to say I just finished reading a book called On the Edge by Nate Silver.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate Silver is the guy who does the, he does a lot of predictions,

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: election predictions and stuff like that.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a great book.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That's like the last book.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think I downloaded it like two months ago.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So I got to catch up or I'm going to lose my credits.

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's like having free stuff.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Number one, number two, you'll not be surprised to hear has to do with cycling.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And there is nothing in cycling that's free.

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Bikes now are so much better and so much higher tech and so awesome compared to bikes

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: even when I was, you know, even 20 years ago, just the sheer amount of technology,

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: material science and just the sheer amount of people doing all kinds of crazy stuff on bikes.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_01]: They're all expensive as hell though.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean like you could easily drop $8,000 on a new bike if you wanted to.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You can get into a good, a decent, probably gravel bike or even mountain bike for a couple

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: grand if you wanted to.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know most people are thinking bike at, you know, $300 that's a lot to spend

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: on bikes no longer is $300 a lot spending on a bike.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I remember back when I was in like sixth grade, my parents got me a,

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: got me a red line BMX bike for my birthday, surprised me with it.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And $300 was the number that comes to mind.

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That seemed like an inordinate amount of money to spend on a bicycle.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And just see, I understand that ain't nothing.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I just spent, I just spent about five times that maybe,

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe eight times that on the thing I'm going to talk about now.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So again, it was not free.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I have my two main bikes.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a bunch of bikes, but I have one mountain bike that's a carbon fiber

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: suspension bike.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely love it.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I have a gravel bike, the first real serious bike I got was a gravel

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: bike when I turned 50 and both these bikes are really nice.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: They're carbon fiber, they're nice bikes.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not even, they wouldn't even be considered high end now,

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: but to me, they're very high end.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I love them.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And I've kind of tweaked them in ways that I like, you know,

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: so I spent a lot of time and money on them.

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the things I did recently,

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I may have talked about it on the podcast before is

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I got, first I got for the mountain bike, it's the AXS shifting.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It's SRAM is the company, AXS shifting.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll put a link in the show notes.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Basically, it's wireless shifting.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So it uses Bluetooth.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's got, you know, it's got the little thumb things in the hand switches

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: like a normal bike, but instead of using a cable, it's a Bluetooth thing.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a little battery on the derailleur and it shifts via Bluetooth.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So that is not free.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It was really expensive.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And once I started using it, I decided that I can't live without it.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It is so much better than a cable system.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like I have to shave that much weight off of my bike

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_01]: because I'm not racing or anything like that.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But what I noticed was the more you'd ride and the more you beat up your bikes,

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: cable systems don't shift that smoothly.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of times you have to click twice to get it to shift.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's probably because the cable stretch, they need adjusting and blah, blah, blah.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the Bluetooth ones don't do that.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And so they shift very crisply and quickly and they go exactly where they want you,

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: where you want to go with them.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It's they're really nice.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just love them.

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I love that so much that I went ahead and got it from my gravel bike too.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And it is just awesome.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's fantastic.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So you add something electronic like that.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And I've just been using it as the standard electronic shifting

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and thinking that's pretty cool.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But everyone's like, oh yeah, there's an app for you.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You got to hook up the app.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So I finally looked up the app.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll put a video of just a demo of how this app works.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It's it's insanely cool.

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's dumb.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you really need it.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not it's not going to make my life so much.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's super cool.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So for one thing, you can you can change the way that your shifters work.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you could you could on my gravel bike, for instance,

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a I have a shifter on the left side and a shifter on the right side.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And actually I have two shifters on each side.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can add digital shifters all over wherever you like to hold onto the bike

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's like it's like a drop.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like the old 10 speed, you know, it's got a drive.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a bunch of different ways you can hold onto the thing.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can add little buttons for shifters anywhere you want to

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you can customize them.

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You can make them, you know, upshift downshift

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and you can actually make it upshift two or three shifts at a time

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: if you want to, if that's what you like.

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It's basically you can refine and customize the the shifting

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_01]: just about anything you could imagine on this thing.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It's it's very cool.

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And I have to tell you I hadn't I knew it was there for a long time.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't bother doing anything with it.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And I looked at this video and I'm like,

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that doesn't seem that hard.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It was so freaking easy.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just been sitting here on my phone.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't been able to do it.

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the coolest thing is for nerdy people like me,

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: you can kind of see how much time you spend in one gear versus another

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: which is very interesting on the gravel bike

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: which tends to be kind of a road bike thing, you know,

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: like so it lets me know kind of where I hit my groove

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and where I spend most of my time.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That's just very cool.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Just interesting stuff.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And why do I say it's free?

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I already paid for the digital shifting.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I already paid for the Bluetooth shifting

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and I continually use that,

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: not realizing that I have this available to me on an app.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So getting the app that helps can helps do all this stuff

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: with my cool Bluetooth shifting.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a free thing.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I got something for free there

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: because I wasn't even I wasn't even paying attention to it.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: She kind of get that you kind of get the gist

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_01]: of what I'm talking about basically.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking about free stuff and in getting free stuff

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_01]: it's just using the stuff you have better.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and I have like I said, I have a Medit i700

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: which is oh a few years ago was the new fancy one

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and now you know now they have the i900

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: which is fancier and nicer.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But what's really cool about Medit,

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I know people are a little hacked off at Medit

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: because it used to be you'd pay them 99 cents a month

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: for some ridiculous amount of cloud storage

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: for your scanning and now they're paying

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_01]: they're charging you like nine or ten bucks a month.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And I figure that I mean there's so many swipes

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: of the credit card when you own a dental practice

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that what's nine bucks a month it's kind of nothing.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But a lot of people are kind of been out of shape about that

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: but the other thing that you get with Medit

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: is they have an entire suite of tools of software tools

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_01]: that kind of go right along with a 3D scanner.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So not only do I really like the way their 3D scanning is

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I finally figured out some of the different buttons that you know

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a lot of controls in there

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that I just wasn't familiar with and watching Armand

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like oh I'm familiar with this I get I see how you do it

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: so for instance one of the ways you can check

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_01]: how high quality your scans are

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: is by using what they call a reliability map.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Well I kind of knew that that was there

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't exactly sure how to turn it on

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: well now I can turn it on super easily

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a piece of cake he showed us it

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's great you look at you know when

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_01]: when your scan is all green that means your data is excellent

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and so you know that you're not sending your lab crap data

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: great stuff right Lisa's well then it turns out that there's also

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_01]: there's an entire suite of tools that you can basically

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_01]: download at the push of a button have set up in your software

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: so for instance you can you can design splints

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and basically you can you can design a bite splint

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and send it to the lab or if you have a printer

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_01]: you can print them yourselves or whatever

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: but this software is built right in like literally you don't have to

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: leave your computer you can do it right from

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_01]: from the computer it's fantastic

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: model builder same thing you can literally set up STLs for models to be printed

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: so you can either send it to a lab to print

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: but they don't have to manipulate your stuff

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you send it to them it's ready to go

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_01]: or if you have a printer you can just send it right to your printer

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it's the cool thing about it is they've taken a lot of the

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_01]: regular things that that a dental office would ask for

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: and made it just real simple and kind of built right into the software

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I knew that I knew this was a possibility but it was

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_01]: it seemed scary and too much and I didn't want to deal with it

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but actually listening to to Armin last weekend

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like this is not that hard now so I have to tell you I haven't

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't delved into it that much yet

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: although I did set them all up within my software

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: now I got to tell you I did do something that I was

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned I think last week on the LMT experience

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: that worked out really well one of the reasons that I didn't do so much stuff

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_01]: with the software is I had a cart that my scanner setup was set up on

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_01]: set up on and the cart was one that was early on recommended for cards

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and it was kind of tall and there wasn't very big

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: it did not have much room for you to have a mouse

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it didn't have much room you know and it just you basically

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_01]: just set your laptop on top of it

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and then there's room for you to kind of put the scanner there

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_01]: but and I got to tell you the wheels were really close together

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: they weren't nice casters it didn't roll nicely

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_01]: honestly I used to paint the butt and and I kind of wanted to use it as little as

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_01]: possible I didn't want to move it around anyone

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking to myself okay there's a ton of things we can do with this

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: not the least of which is actually doing design stuff after the patient is gone

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I need a cart that's easy to use

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: a cart that honestly is frankly nice enough that you'll want to use it

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's easy to roll around and I also wanted I saw a lot of people in the

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Cadre user group putting an uninterrupted power supply on this cart

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: so basically that's the only thing you have to plug in

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and it has a battery on it so you don't have to you don't have to shut the computer down

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you don't have to put it to sleep you don't have to do anything

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: because everything plugs directly into this thing

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's got a battery so when you unplug this and roll it into the other room

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_01]: you can plug it back in and you're fine

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: it'll beep at you just saying hey you're using uninterrupted power supply battery

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's great because you don't have you only have to plug one thing in

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and you don't have to worry about your computer crashing or doing anything weird to your computer

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: it's fantastic I love it

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: so I went ahead and I bought one of the carts the rolling desks

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that I saw people had on this Cadre group

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and I got a wireless keyboard I got a pretty nice one

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I got a new monitor it was not if it was big but it was really inexpensive

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean honestly I'm sort of surprised how inexpensive decent monitors

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a 32 inch monitor so it's a huge monitor it's like 150 bucks

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_01]: it was not very expensive I think all it all said and done

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: it was about 500 bucks for this rolling cart with the monitor

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_01]: the keyboard and the and the UPS all that stuff

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I spent about three or four hours yesterday at the office

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_01]: on a Saturday because what else you have to do right

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I brought Sean over to help me out he's pretty good with this stuff

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and I assembled this thing and it was a pain in the butt

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and I said a lot of bad swears and I said but but I finally got the thing assembled

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and honestly it really is nice to to roll it's I actually bought

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: someone had recommended buying fancy roller blade wheel casters

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and I put those on it does roll rolls like crazy rolls easy

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_01]: the uninterrupted power supply is super easy to deal with

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: the monitor is beautiful so all of a sudden I'm like man I like this computer

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_01]: this is great so I'm thinking to myself

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have plenty of uses for this thing

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and so so it was not free because I did buy the cart

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_01]: but all of a sudden I'm like I got all kinds of things I can do here

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: that are going to save me money and time

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: for you know models printing models and and you know making mouth

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: bites blints and stuff like that's pretty sweet that's an and

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: all the different things you can do with the scanner along with

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: armaments like recommendations and tips and tricks on scanning

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I've really come a long way in about a week

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but the one thing that I don't do super effectively in my office

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_01]: we I built my office with with kind of a cabinetry

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it's there's two entrances the the foot of the chair is facing

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of down down on the other end of the operator

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the head of the chair is up by this cabinet and it's in there's

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_01]: entrances on either side it's kind of a classic thing

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and I set the computers up in that in that cabinet so they're

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: basically there's a monitor that's kind of at the head behind

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: this the patient chair so the it's not easy for the patient to

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: see this monitor and I have TV monitors all over the place

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: in my in my office but for some reason or another

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I have not figured quite out how to to project that monitor

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: to one of the big monitors I should be able to figure that out

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: was in fact I'm sure that I can I just I never found myself

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: able to use it what I can do with this new cart setup

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: another free thing I'm using a software called Splashtop

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: to and that's how I that's how I get into my my software at

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the office remotely Splashtop is it's like go to my PC

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's less expensive it's way better a lot of people

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: use Splashtop for a bunch of different things but the

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: bottom line is you can remote into other computers from

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: you know remote from one computer or a tablet or whatever

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: into another computer super easy so what I'm finding is now I

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: can I can remote into a different computer running

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: dentrics at my office show patients their their chart

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_01]: their images their you know x-rays all that stuff

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and I can also so I can not only can I use that big

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_01]: beautiful monitor show them 3d images of their teeth if

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_01]: after I've scanned them I can show them their x-rays

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I can shoot I can make appointments I can do chart

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: notes I can do all that stuff and it's it's on my side of the

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_01]: of the patient chair now and so I have access to this computer

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I do all this stuff that I haven't been able to do before

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm I mean I haven't used it yet I just I just got

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: it set up yesterday but like I'm now able to remote into

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: multiple computers running dentrics so I will be able

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to do this it's I cannot wait I'm super excited this

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: is a functionality that I've been able to do

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_01]: forever I just never figured out how to do it so it's

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: like free stuff man I got another free thing I'm going to

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: have this I'm going to have this great setup so I can

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_01]: use the computer in my operatories and the thing rolls

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: like crazy so I'm using whatever operator I want I'm very

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_01]: excited about it like I can literally see myself going

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: okay I got a patient in I got a patient in hygiene I want

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: to scan I want to scan them before they leave for

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: fill in the blank super easy to do I just roll this

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_01]: card and the only easier than that is of course

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: having the wireless like the Latrios 5 which is wireless

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: which may be someday but at least what's cool about

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: this is I can do all this stuff with what I already

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: have I didn't have to buy anything new necessarily and I

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_01]: got to tell you buying scanners new super fun concept

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: but I feel like it's the I feel like as soon as you buy a

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_01]: new scanner you're sold on one the next one that comes

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: out is that much more amazing so it's almost like I'm

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_01]: sort of I'm sort of stuck because I don't want to I

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: don't want to buy the wrong thing you know it's

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm always kind of in a spot where I don't mind

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: waiting a little while to see what comes out next I

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_01]: mean I got my I got my eye on three different

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: scanners that I would love to get at some point but

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_01]: right now I've got an eye 700 that's working just fine and

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_01]: now I have it on a really killer cart that I can move

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: very easily I can also use as your mode into

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_01]: dentrics and show I'm just very excited and all this

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_01]: stuff outside of the fact that yeah I spent about

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_01]: 500 bucks on this new cart uh it's free stuff it's

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_01]: like I already had this stuff I just wasn't using I

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't know how to use it so I'm just saying I'm

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_01]: just beside myself with how happy I am that I've

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: figured out how to use more get more functionality

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_01]: out of my office without spending a whole bunch of

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_01]: money because it feels like so often you're spending

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: a ton of money now I'm going to suggest that I

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_01]: probably have free stuff sitting all over the place

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: in my office I have multiple different ways that

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I can message patients that I think we probably

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_01]: are pretty ineffective at I'm paying for that
