[00:01:27] from the premiere booth and we had some really funny, that's some really funny like short

[00:01:33] episodes. So I put a couple of those together the first one is a sound check that Jason

[00:01:36] and I did and then the second one is a piece with Dr. Chris Salar no where we just we were

[00:01:43] slap happy and goofy and it was very fun we had a good time and I thought it would be a

[00:01:47] perfect preview for the Chicago Midwinter meeting where I will hopefully be recording and making

[00:01:53] some content for you like we used to so little throwback a little bit of greatest hits from the

[00:02:21] sitting on some chairs that probably are not rated for my weight just saying they could be

[00:02:27] and seeing lots of lots of people setting up to sell lots of dental wares.

[00:02:34] A little stuff. Yep come by my dental stuff. Come please come by and buy I have dental

[00:02:40] stuff to sell. Yeah, dental stuff is same stuff his last year but it looks new we have new package

[00:02:47] new package releasing new products release constantly. Same product new box that's you love it

[00:02:56] and four times more expensive new box very fancy box with a new price his picks it up pretty

[00:03:05] girl that's right we hire pretty girl to sell new box with same product. Yes in Russia

[00:03:15] product sell you. In Russia pretty girl is your mother that's what it is I have I have a I can't

[00:03:27] and I can't stop. Do you want to kiss myself? All right so we're sitting across from the

[00:03:40] cool team booth we're going to be looking at endo ice pair of posts apparently we are looking

[00:03:46] at their endo section a lot of endo stuff there. I do a lot of endo stuff. So how's your endo game

[00:03:52] going Jason? Terrible terrible terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Because you were when we did our thing with

[00:04:01] the endo boys you were all excited to get going so I'll never be excited for to get started on that

[00:04:07] okay so I was I did I did a lot of endo in the last two weeks and I've come to realize that

[00:04:13] okay so upper second premolars throw me every time for some reason I forget that typically there's

[00:04:18] one big canal instead of two small canals and so I'm freaking myself out about looking for two canals

[00:04:23] and then I put the file right in the middle and it drops into this giant cavern I'm like what do I do now?

[00:04:29] yeah freaking out man put some bleach in it yeah bleach it out to me I put bleach

[00:04:36] bleach and I guess we use a lot of clean I like use a Russian red

[00:04:42] and pick it up at hardware store it kill everything including patient

[00:04:50] I like to use after they pay bill yes you heard of gray markets

[00:04:55] yeah this is gray market wouldn't touch this stuff this is red the market Russian red

[00:05:02] the market not sure this is ever going out on the airways sincerely hope that

[00:05:11] all of our Russian fans will be that's right will be young so what are you looking forward to see in

[00:05:18] here at the midway we should do we'll start it up as let's do a daily right this second

[00:05:24] we don't only have to do daily so hello dental hacks nation and welcome to the dental hacks daily

[00:05:32] this is our first recording at the Chicago midwinter in Chicago Illinois oh that's not Chicago

[00:05:42] this year yeah where's the midwinter this year where's the Chicago midwinter this year

[00:05:48] so Jason and I are sitting at the premiere booth which is and they have us pretty tricked out

[00:05:53] so we have a really nice place to hide right by the entrance so it's really too late for you to come

[00:05:57] by if you're hearing this because we won't be releasing this episode to later so you can't come by

[00:06:04] you lose we win I've already been recognized in the elevator so pretty much go home at this point

[00:06:09] the best thing was she said are you the dental hacks guy and I was standing right in front of her

[00:06:13] and she didn't even notice me usually Allen's one that gets recognized so I'm

[00:06:17] a little special yeah so I uh I'm actually cowering underneath the table here I'm feeling a little

[00:06:23] uncomfortable that she actually asked Jason to sign body parts and I wouldn't let him do that I felt

[00:06:28] like that wasn't very professional never sign somebody's neck before that was it was interesting

[00:06:33] it was I mean but what's interesting is she had the sharpie ready to go as if she was

[00:06:37] figuring that she'd run into us it was kind of amazing I was hoping she'd fill in my hairline

[00:06:42] that's like the run for the straight hair let me get that one over here I can help you

[00:06:47] I can help you yeah so we are actually don't go straight line you gotta get a little ready yeah

[00:06:52] you can't you can look drawn too much attention yeah exactly so we um we came in we have

[00:06:58] don't tell anyone but premiere has provided us with exhibitor passes so that we could get

[00:07:03] in a little early get set up we had no power at the booth now we have power it's uh

[00:07:09] but like the show hasn't technically started yet it's just exhibitor here the show has started hello

[00:07:16] so yeah we're uh we're broadcasting from the booth before anyone's even allowed to come in here

[00:07:20] so I did come in with my exhibitor pass and the security guard almost took me down that's

[00:07:27] she was right there she's reaching for she's she's like four feet tall in six feet at the ponytail

[00:07:33] yeah that's true with the ponytail and she's she's she's uh she's well suited to security work I

[00:07:39] think she could be reckoned with yeah she looks like kind of a a fire plug let's just say that

[00:07:46] she's I wasn't going to mess with her let's just I definitely was not gonna mess with her

[00:07:50] I was gonna say my something about Maryline but I won't yeah relates to fireplugge so anyhow we got

[00:07:56] in here we set up and I'm just curious what you're looking forward to to seeing here you got

[00:08:03] you got any big plans to to scope it out you got any one five I'm gonna look at autoclaves all

[00:08:08] autoclaves the whole time all autoclaves all the time yeah probably look at some endos stuff we're

[00:08:15] going to get down hopefully and look at the prime scan yeah hopefully Mikey uh scrams dad will be

[00:08:21] around to show us we really just want to be uh we want to be really cater to

[00:08:26] after pretty much that's what everybody is hoping for is people are gonna treat us like

[00:08:31] treat us like the celebrities that we are and free stuff is also good we're into free stuff

[00:08:38] now some people think a dental meeting free stuff is like disposable prophy cups or uh toothbrushes

[00:08:44] or tooth I'm wanting I'm figuring we're gonna each walk out with a prime scan yeah I'm thinking

[00:08:49] I hope it's so I'm thinking that now that uh some people know us a little bit that the

[00:08:54] pretty girls are the booths are actually gonna talk to me a little bit this time yep yep because

[00:08:59] they always seem like they like us yeah but I don't know why yeah it's just it seems strange there is

[00:09:03] there is a tradition of the Chicago midwinter of uh of having very attractive saleswoman at the booth

[00:09:09] and uh and there's us yeah they do that because like the okay when I was a young dentist that

[00:09:15] always used to piss me off a little bit because it was like they were going for the the late 40s

[00:09:21] early 50s white guy demo and I was like come on man I'm a dentist cater now I'm I am that demo

[00:09:27] and they're clearly trying to cater to me again so I've only had three women talk to me in my entire

[00:09:32] life so it's always it's like it's like going into hooters it I know oh notice me you'd like me he's

[00:09:41] really like me yeah it's it's uh it's a dental meeting thing that's all right that's very sexist

[00:09:46] what else to say well it's well it is what it is yeah but uh as you may your men I know I'm

[00:09:54] looking to do another startup yeah so I'll be going around kind of looking to probably some

[00:09:58] the boring stuff this stuff around yeah yeah I will be looking at auto quays chairs probably some

[00:10:04] endos stuff okay so here's the thing the chair this is really I've been having this thought lately okay

[00:10:11] so the patients that uh can't lay back you ever notice there's always the patients you know like

[00:10:17] you never have that you say you have georeetric patients and so like all but I have 100% success rate

[00:10:22] and zero reduce yeah that's good so what I've noticed I have a dental chair that's probably older than us

[00:10:30] we I had to reappulse really look at a couple or like us know us like since we were born I'm older

[00:10:36] than you so it's probably older than me it's a J chair it's the wheel 90 year old chair I do really

[00:10:41] it's a it's a J chair uh it's really old it's you know probably 1960s uh vintage looks pretty good

[00:10:48] it's in my hygiene room and the one thing that those chairs do is they they lean the the back back

[00:10:53] but they also the chair back back we're bringing sexy back um it also has a tip like

[00:11:01] that like the whole chair bodily tips as well so for those people that don't like to lean back you

[00:11:07] can kind of mess with them by just tipping the chair it doesn't feel like you're leaning back it

[00:11:11] feels like the whole chair is moving so I'm convinced that and I know that the J chair does I don't

[00:11:16] know that any other chairs do that where they have like that for such is that right I'm gonna go over

[00:11:20] so that's Denny's although I'm a chair on a roller ball no yeah for the patient yes just like

[00:11:25] I'm you're helping them work on their core as well as doing their root canal flexes abs that's

[00:11:30] right that's right work it eat if you're almost there really engage it in three and two and one

[00:11:38] nicely done if take a break we'll be at the zoom but Dennis

[00:11:45] I'm wearing bright blue spandex and I have a Brazilian somewhere on my body you have to think

[00:11:51] about that a little bit yeah exactly so uh I'm gonna go look at scanners I want to go see the prime

[00:11:57] scan and then I'm gonna go look at the medit i500 because this will be the first time of actually

[00:12:00] good and we'll see more in person I know you got to use one but supposedly the software is

[00:12:04] way different than it was when you were there um faster they say faster because you were comparing

[00:12:11] it to a trio and when you when you had it in your hands it wasn't as fast as the trios

[00:12:15] that's it's all just a big software update so a lot of the scanners are all software driven

[00:12:19] so they're all cameras yeah the software that they go along with it so I feel like um

[00:12:25] there's so many upstarts in that market I'm gonna just keep my open for any scanners

[00:12:29] and and go from there like just see what they've got I think I'm gonna go over to the bio clear

[00:12:33] booth we should totally do that uh that's always fun because those are my people and and it's fun

[00:12:39] to show people how to use the matrix I show you how I'll show you how to use matrix you want

[00:12:44] you want a clear matrix I show you matrix and we're gonna show some love to our cosmed up folks

[00:12:49] you bet we will local subtown team I know so they'll I wonder buddy will be here because he's I mean

[00:12:54] they always have speakers here um oh we're and we're having breakfast with Dennis tomorrow I think

[00:13:00] Dennis hardly so breakfast with Dennis breakfast with Dennis I I don't know where we're having it

[00:13:05] we should he knows better where he's from Chicago let's let him pick yes I'm sure there'll be

[00:13:09] sausage yeah sausage involved uh it's a sausage party really whenever you're there sausage is it wrong

[00:13:17] oh my gosh so this is the lowest common denominator exactly so what I've the other thing that I have

[00:13:22] a goal for I want to find a black lab coat okay the black labs on it yeah I see what you did

[00:13:31] of lab coat that is black or a white coat with black labs I will settle for either to be honest

[00:13:37] but I would I would I tried a figs black lab coat on the biggest one they had and it was like

[00:13:42] Chris Farley and in the California it's California it all code exactly yeah it did not it west

[00:13:49] way they got some we know patterns for that that's right we got some corn fed boys up there I'll

[00:13:55] tell you what it's the extra large was about a a medium this is this is for California our heaviest

[00:14:01] person in California was the governor at one time exactly exactly many lost it yeah 210 pounds

[00:14:07] he went on heavy keto now he's 112 exactly so yeah I'm I if there's a place where I can find that

[00:14:15] I think it'll be here and and maybe at the end I'll say look there are no black lab coats for fat guys

[00:14:20] they just do like that paint on like silicone there you go there you go there you go I like

[00:14:24] rip it off well I've gone back to scrubs wearing those fig scrubs and they are so comfortable

[00:14:29] okay that squeaking I was hoping wasn't my my microphone so yeah it's Jason it's always you my

[00:14:35] nostril it's really always I think we need to get you into a asleep apnea like mouth guard

[00:14:45] basically an applying time for daytime exactly I want I want to see that job protruding I just

[00:14:49] want to wear a snorkel all day long I can see where one of these things is the

[00:14:57] one day that place catches on fire and everybody else is down on the ground walking around

[00:15:02] and you Jay leaps is up right running for the door that's right baby I think they should have a

[00:15:08] daytime snorkel in they'll call out the Lipscomb appliance they should they should what's that we are

[00:15:15] on here yes of course absolutely so they someone wants a picture with us so we're smiling and we're

[00:15:23] smiling

[00:15:27] sorry my hand in front of everybody's face yeah that's perfect thanks Jay thanks Jay so yeah

[00:15:31] that never really gets old getting pictures with people so premiere has always been a great host

[00:15:37] the thing this year we were here last year so they're always so good to us and if it if we've

[00:15:41] done it twice I'm pretty sure that makes it a tradition right that like so for me this tradition

[00:15:45] yes traditions second breakfast that's right I there the premier people are always really good

[00:15:50] they've got their booth is their booth is always right in front to school like you can see people walking

[00:15:55] in and catch people walking in or if you see someone you don't want to see you can break eye

[00:16:00] contact really quick you get a little bit of it's nice I do yeah judge judging everybody that's nice

[00:16:06] because when you're behind the counter you totally can judge exactly don't you come on this side yet

[00:16:11] we give people a little bit of respite because we're not it would don't appear to be trying to sell

[00:16:14] them on anything so like they they breathe a little bit lighter as they walk by you got 16 square feet

[00:16:20] of felt over a table with your name on it yeah it's like you own the place yeah really

[00:16:25] they know better that's exactly right so this this is our anything else I'm looking for

[00:16:32] not really I the goal was I'm gonna try and buy nothing yes that's the goal I doubt that I will do

[00:16:39] that but I'm gonna try and buy by nothing I think we're not a podcast we're just a support group

[00:16:44] yeah it is travel around and not buy anything do you have any tips for the people at Midwinter

[00:16:49] or any of these big meetings to avoid eye contact is it a container hotel room yeah

[00:16:56] that's actually they called it the dawn kool and gauze key she's the only person I know

[00:17:01] that goes to Midwinter that never actually goes an extreme avoidance exactly it's uh

[00:17:06] well did you get yourself an exhibitor's badge and nobody will exactly nobody will touch you I'm

[00:17:11] sitting here with Pat Taylor from premiere yes it's really good Taylor all day long exactly exactly

[00:17:18] and I don't if you don't have a name tag when you're walking around do they do they actually

[00:17:24] send people to kick you out or is it just for the gate that you get the name tag I think

[00:17:27] funny Taylor over there is going to she's got she's got her eye on us we definitely

[00:17:31] we were the red flag for her to be sure the challenger to a foot race later on yeah if anybody came running

[00:17:37] you know what she might surprise you though yeah she's probably more sprite than she looks

[00:17:41] and uh the rest of speed plus she can throw the ponytail around you and be ensnared I think that's

[00:17:47] I think that's her superpower like kill bill episode first time capable of she toggle midwinter

[00:17:55] edition I like that it's really good oh my gosh well so this will wrap this up this is a this

[00:18:01] has been us before the just right before the midwinter exhibit floor opens up

[00:18:07] I think there will be a large horn like a like a soccer game exactly exactly both that

[00:18:15] alone and it then the people the influx of people they'll be like a foot race the first person

[00:18:22] mad rash I've got one of those I've got a little sad one you walk around the sales far for

[00:18:27] a while you'll have a bad rash that's exactly I don't want this much in my regular life

[00:19:53] and now it's it's like a group of editors that they have editor by committee yes it's an

[00:19:59] editor by committee but um I uh yeah I'm the sole editor chief editor for dental economics so if

[00:20:04] it sucks your problem it's all me yep it's a bug it doesn't actually doesn't suck though so

[00:20:09] that so the good news is you're safe well thanks to folks like you who grace our covers uh like in

[00:20:14] the January issue right some hard hitting articles I see that Josh a picture of Josh Austin is on

[00:20:20] the front yet yes no pictures of us yeah yeah I think Josh Austin is the hottest person I know

[00:20:29] I get it yeah he is an eligible bachelor actually he's not eligible no he's engaged to be married

[00:20:35] yeah has been for like a couple years now yeah I remember when they did it on the pose that was

[00:20:39] two podcasts ago like that he Josh you gotta get on this count it was a great story it was like

[00:20:45] under a tree or something I forget it all somewhere in Texas or something yeah that trees in Texas

[00:20:50] yeah in any case uh yeah so you you have this magazine thing yeah we ran into him at the

[00:20:59] as we walked past the penwell booth he attacked us I did it was awesome well listen I have

[00:21:05] to be messing it happened me all day by the way whatever time I have with you you guys are very

[00:21:08] busy here I've walked by the booth a couple times and you guys are just podcasting like crazy

[00:21:14] did you know we also have horrible posture we're both leaned over like dentists yeah pretty much

[00:21:19] I keep trying personal learn how it gets interviewed by quasi-redo the quasi-boto twins

[00:21:25] welcome to the podcast everybody's like this at Pittsburgh does any dentist have really

[00:21:33] have good podcast I want good posture I don't want good posture I don't have it in me though

[00:21:39] I had this posture before I got dental skulls so I can so those just made it worse

[00:21:43] well that's why I'm excited to launch today the dental girdle it's going to encourage dentist to

[00:21:49] wear to wear it and have proper posture throughout the day nice yeah it's gonna be slimming too

[00:21:55] as a nice thing that's good very slimming exactly from the maker of specs yeah I mean the reality is

[00:22:01] that's that would sell if you had that product if you made that product like as a joke it would totally

[00:22:06] sell you could have a booth well the gag gift industry right there yeah I would sell a ton of

[00:22:11] I'd often said that these dental conferences if somebody had like a Lulu lemon or whatever the

[00:22:16] uh women's wear fat is at this time it would make a billion dollars at the university or at the

[00:22:21] Minnesota the start of the North Meeting I spoke there a few years back and I went through the floor

[00:22:26] and there was one guy that had these toys like they were they were sort of like Lego knock off toys

[00:22:33] or whatever and you think yourself for one thing you're like like lego's they had an extra

[00:22:38] yeah but I mean they were and they were he had a he was selling them directly out of the booth and

[00:22:44] like so he had a stock of them and he was just selling them there he sold his ton of them

[00:22:49] I bought some I bought some I'm like this has nothing to do with dentistry you could maybe say well

[00:22:54] for your waiting room for the kids you know but it was just it was just some toys and he sold a ton

[00:22:59] of them I'm thinking to myself what's that all about like why are we not selling something that

[00:23:03] has nothing to do with dentistry so used records or something you know we run a trade show I say we

[00:23:09] the dental economics group the RDH under one roof which is huge yeah it's a big meeting yeah

[00:23:16] thousands of hygienists under one roof it is super fun trade show to go there are some dentist

[00:23:20] that go because it's just really a lot of fun and you learn some good things self-loving Dennis

[00:23:24] really right self-self-elage building filled with women yeah well that's it so if you're into that

[00:23:29] sort of thing yeah but the so we run out a pretty large and busy exhibit and I will tell you

[00:23:33] those those fringe groups those fringe vendors that have nothing to do with dentistry yeah they

[00:23:38] absolutely crush it D-straw yeah yeah yeah they're selling you know uh silly socks or

[00:23:44] or hand lotions or whatever the crush is the hand lotion thing has been going on forever

[00:23:50] if you ever get if they are if you ever like they get a hold your hand and they do the thing you

[00:23:54] trust and it's always good hand lotion but I'm like I that's the last thing I think of for coming into

[00:24:00] do you guys moisturize yeah I'm asking the heart hitting questions yeah

[00:24:03] no during the day you're you're washing your hands you're using your alcohol based uh whatever cleansers

[00:24:08] I don't moisturize I don't either I itch a lot I never could I never could stay in the feeling of it

[00:24:13] I feel like I'm just a grease ball the slimy yeah the slimy well that's why you have to invest in

[00:24:18] an on greasy formula jargo but you know what I think the non greasy it's all a huge line because

[00:24:24] by the time you've got it on your hands after they've said after they've said it's non greasy

[00:24:29] if it's greasy it's not like you can do anything about it right I mean you're you're you're screwed

[00:24:33] if you take their word for it and they're lying you're screwed that's not long with the girdle

[00:24:37] he's gonna sell chaps that especially meant for white and white and it's like it's like

[00:24:42] they're textured to pull the extra this is good it's like a corduroy chaff it's got the like

[00:24:47] that it's ripped yeah yeah I just invested in dicks you know do you have those the scrub company

[00:24:52] yeah I just I had the same scrubs for like a decade I'm not proud of it there were holes in

[00:24:56] them I think I had them from when I was a resident yeah I'm a cheap bastard but I finally was

[00:25:01] like a little bit like $75 dickies whatever they are textured those pants yeah oh they're delightful

[00:25:05] yeah and I'm wiping stuff off on them all the time yeah I'm I wipe my instruments off on how

[00:25:10] else would I clean them that's the how Allen I've joined the fake strain yeah we're all

[00:25:15] big things are big is the problem the only problem with fixes if they're they're they're slim cut

[00:25:21] I'm not a slim cut kind of guy really true they don't have extra room where I could use it

[00:25:26] thus the lab coat comes in handy otherwise there people are going to be seeing parts of me

[00:25:29] they never meant to see well when we get you into my line of girdles I need to girdle I need

[00:25:34] to go up a whole new world for you I'm telling yeah I'm telling yeah I just hope they never see

[00:25:39] me outside of the office because they'll they'll think I much I much fitter than I actually am

[00:25:43] a lot like doctor me but kind of fatter a lot actually that's his twin brother he's sick I would

[00:25:51] wear this girdle going back to the girdle idea if it actually had like fake muscle definition

[00:25:56] there you go like like like abs that'd be yeah and it kind of just like a bad man thing kind of

[00:26:01] but for dentists I like that yeah like the like the George Clooney Batman outfit yeah the

[00:26:06] the nipples and the abs that's the one I wanted to just subtly show through my

[00:26:11] it's just press hard enough in the definition areas where you get a little tissue in the

[00:26:14] crisis yeah actually it dies off so you get that invitation there yeah I don't know I think we

[00:26:20] might be on to something this this girdle is going to cover a lot of our body it's going to be

[00:26:23] more like a bodysuit I think by the time we're all said done we're solving a lot of problems with

[00:26:27] the world today yeah yeah I'm telling you what we just need one booth and we'll kill it one booth

[00:26:32] one one show we'll sell out you get your goodles yeah goodles that's right this is a quality show

[00:26:39] take the pictures over here so what are you looking for when you obviously go to these trade shows
